A pneumatic tire which employs as an air-impermeable layer a film comprising a thermoplastic resin or a thermoplastic elastomer composition obtained by blending a thermoplastic resin with an elastomer and which has a constitution in which separation of the film during tire production is prevented; and a process for producing the pneumatic tire. The pneumatic tire includes: a film which comprises a thermoplastic resin or a thermoplastic elastomer composition obtained by blending a thermoplastic resin with an elastomer and is disposed on the tire cavity side of the carcass layer; and a first rubber layer disposed on the tire cavity side of the film so as to cover the film, the width-direction ends of the first rubber layer being located outside the width-direction ends of the film.
