PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide article retrieval system and method for facilitating retrieval of a target vehicle. SOLUTION: A host system 150 includes a data base for storing positional information on a vehicle terminal 114 and a radio relay station 112c nearest to the vehicle terminal 114. Radio relay stations 112a, 112b and 112c include a lamp lighting part for turning on a lamp when the radio relay stations 112a, 112b and 112c are nearest to a handy terminal 118 when retrieving the vehicle terminal 114 from the data base by the handy terminal 118. The vehicle terminal 114 includes a lamp lighting part for turning on a lamp when the vehicle terminal 114 is retrieved by the handy terminal 118 and the vehicle terminal 114 corresponds to a retrieval result.
