OPTICAL COMPONENT AND LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device capable of emitting light having a wavelength different from that of light emitted from an optical fiber and obtaining light of high output, and to provide an optical component used therefor.

SOLUTION: The optical component includes: an optical fiber holding member 20 for holding an optical fiber 10; a light conversion member 40; and a cap 30 having an inner hole enabling the light conversion member 40 and the optical fiber holding member 20 to be inserted into and having an engagement part 30a with an opening 30b for engaging the inserted members at one end of the inner hole. The optical component is made up by fitting the light conversion member 40 inserted into the inner hole of the cap 30 with the optical fiber holding member 20 pressed against the engagement part 30a, and is characterized in that the light conversion member 40 is spherical and the opening 30b of the engagement part 30a is smaller than a maximum diameter of the light conversion member 40.
