PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic working method capable of reducing the diameter of a cylindrical stock to≤40% of the stock diameter. SOLUTION: In the plastic working method where one end of a cylindrical stock W is fixed to a mandrel 22 arranged at the tip of the main shaft 2, while pressurizing the other end against the side of the main shaft 2 by a pressure die 31 arranged at the tip of a pressurizing mechanism 3, a squeezing roller R is pressed on the circumferential face of the stock W, so as to mold a diameter-reduced part W1a in the stock W, a pressurizing type movement regulation mechanism 4 for regulating the movement of the pressure die 31 is provided, and, while regulating the movement of the pressure die 31, primary working for reducing the diameter of the stock W to 50 to 60% of the stock diameter is performed, thereafter, the regulation of the movement of the pressure die 31 by the pressurizing type movement regulation mechanism 4 is released, and secondary working for reducing the diameter of the stock W to≤40% of the stock diameter is performed.
