Conjugates of a water-soluble amino acid polymer and a drug

Disclosed are compositions comprising a conjugate of a therapeutic agent, contrast agent or drug, and a water-soluble amino acid polymer that contains more than one different type of amino acid residue and in which greater than 50% of the amino acid residues comprise glutamic acid and/or aspartic acid and/or lysine. The therapeutic agent is especially a chemotherapeutic or antiangiogenic drug, for example a taxoid such as paclitaxel or taxotere.
