Embossing device and method for the production of an embossing tool

The device (1) has an embossing die (2) with an image relief, where a micro-embossing die (5) is inserted in the die (2). The die (5) includes a die body (6) with a hard material layer that is applied on a side facing a metal object e.g. coin. The hard material layer includes an embossed relief to produce a deflection active embossing point on the object, where the embossed relief is produced after applying the hard material layer on the body. Cleaning devices (12, 13) cleans the micro-embossing die, where the die body is made of high strength hard carrier material e.g. carbide. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an embossing tool.
