A flame retardant modified-activated carbon for removal of dioxin is provided to adsorb and remove dioxin in an effective and complete manner while the flame retardant modified-activated carbon is not burnt even in waste gas with a high temperature of about 500 deg.C. In an ordinary flame retardant modified-activated carbon for removal of dioxin, which uses activated carbon prepared by sorting non-reacted carbon having a carbon content of 93.5 to 97 wt.%, an ash content of 3 to 6.5 wt.% and a particle size of 1 to 50 mum from non-reacted carbon generated from the petrochemical process, a flame retardant modified-activated carbon for removal of dioxin is characterized in that the flame retardant modified-activated carbon is prepared by heat-treating the activated carbon in a drying furnace with a temperature of 100 to 300 deg.C, sieving the heat-treated activated carbon to a sieve size of 250 to 150 meshes, and mixing the sieved activated carbon with a combustion inhibitor at a weight ratio of 1:0.03 to 0.2, wherein the combustion inhibitor shuts off a surface of the activated carbon from a high temperature of 500 deg.C to prevent combustion of the activated carbon. |
