Systems and methods for customer control in real-time of the manufacturing process used by a manufacturer to produce a product in accordance with design parameters set by the customer. A customer may place an order through a network along with a set of design parameters and a set of critical dates that act as milestones for completion of the product assembly or manufacture. A customer retains control of the manufacturing process and may approve of the progress of the manufacture of the product one manufacturing step at a time. A customer generally maintains the power to suspend the manufacturing process if a design parameter is not met by the time of a critical date.
