[Also in Group XXIII] A cricket bat or other handle embodies a length of metallic tubing 10 provided with a series of circumferential corrugations 11, the tubing being covered with a mixture 12 of cork and rubber and a cap 13 being provided. The upper part of the blade 14 of the bat is bored to receive the end of the handle where the corrugations are helical or as in Fig. 2 the tube has a plain end and is secured by adhesive. In either case a metal collar 15 prevents the blade material from splitting in use.</p> |
