The system has an air spring bellows supporting the working surface, a level regulator(s) for feeding air to/venting the bellows, a control unit(s) that changes a hydraulic cylinder supporting the working surface into a first mode in which cylinder pressure changes resulting from loading the working surface are balanced and a second mode in which the control unit is influenced by loading the working surface to feed air to or vent the bellows. The system has an air spring bellows (12) supporting the working surface (12) and at least one level regulator for feeding air into and venting the bellows. At least one control unit (34) activates or deactivates the level regulator and changes a hydraulic cylinder (7) supporting the working surface into at least one first state in which pressure changes in the cylinder resulting from loading the working surface are balanced and a second operating state in which the control units is influenced by loading the working surface so as to feed air to or vent the bellows.
