Vinyl esters of fatty acids containing 6 to 18 carbon atoms are purified from contaminating fatty acids by heating in the presence of from 0.01 to 1.0% of sulphuric acid, based on the weight of acid containing vinyl ester, to form 80 to 150 DEG C. and distilling off the vinyl ester. Vinyl esters of lauric, caprylic, stearic myristic and capric acids are purified in examples. The fatty acid may be removed from the residue by acid saponification. |
