摘要 <p>An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to have such a structure that a plurality of openings, which allow an electric field to pass therethrough, to be formed in parallel to each other at an upper electrode layer and voltage is applied to between the upper electrode layer and a lower electrode layer to drive liquid crystal molecules. An upper layer as a common electrode layer(60) and a lower electrode layer as a pixel electrode layer(52) are formed with an FFS(Fringe Field Switch) insulating layer(58) interposed therebetween on a transmissive substrate(34). A plurality of openings are formed to be parallel to each other on the common electrode layer in order to allow an electric field to pass therethrough. Voltage is applied to between the common electrode layer and the pixel electrode layer to drive liquid crystal molecules. The width of a shorter axis of the opening has a value within a range in which a V-T curve, namely, the relationship between voltage and transmittance, is not shifted by a change in the width of the shorter axis. The openings are slit openings(53) opened in a closed configuration.</p>
