A plasma display apparatus and an apparatus and a method for driving the same are provided to reduce the cost of a circuit by implementing transistors having low breakdown voltages in a sustain discharge driver. A voltage of second electrodes(X) is gradually varied while applying a first voltage to first electrodes(Y) during a reset period. Scan pulses are sequentially applied to the first electrodes during an address period. During a sustain period, a fifth voltage is applied to the first electrodes through a first voltage source and first and second capacitors. The voltage of the first electrodes is increased through the first source voltage, the first capacitor, and a first inductor. The voltage of the first electrodes is further increased through the first source voltage, the second capacitor, and the first inductor. The voltage of the first electrodes is further increased through the second source voltage, the second capacitor, and the first inductor. A seventh voltage is applied to the first electrodes through the second voltage source, and the first and second capacitors. The voltage of the first electrodes is decreased through a second inductor, the second capacitor, and the first source voltage. The voltage of the first electrodes is further decreased through the second inductor, the second capacitor, and the first source voltage. The voltage of the first electrodes is further decreased through the second inductor, the first capacitor, and the second source voltage.
