A method for recovering a VOD(Video-On-Demand) session is provided to recover an interrupted downloading session without a require for a subscriber to participate in a recovery mechanism. A device starts a contents downloading session with a remote server through one or more signal channels(S1). In case a premature interruption for the downloading session is detected, the device verifies the usability of all the channels(S3). The downloading session is not recovered as long as even one among the channels is not usable. If all the channels get usable again(S4), the downloading session is recovered(S5). In this case, the session recovery executes in response to a session recovery request from the remote server.
