A porphyrin-containing dye for dye-sensitized solar cells is provided to exhibit high optical absorptivity and produce dye-sensitized solar cells having improved photoelectric conversion efficiency. A porphyrin-containing dye for dye-sensitized solar cells has a structure represented by the following formula 1. In the formula, X and Y are each independently a substituent selected from substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon groups, substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic groups, and combinations thereof, wherein at least one of X and Y is a porphyrin group or porphyrinyl vinyl aryl group, Z is a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group, substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic group, vinyl group, or substituted or unsubstituted polyvinyl group, and A is an acidic functional group.
