Variously-substituted 1,8-naphthosultones are used as sensitisers in heat-sensitive coatings for recording media. An independent claim is included for a method for the production of HSRM by making a pre-dispersion of colour-generator, color developer and compound (I) in water, milling the mixture to make a dispersion, mixing the dispersion with a binder solution to give a binder content of 1-15 wt.% in the mixture and then coating the mixture onto a substrate.
