摘要 <p>A method and an apparatus for improving AC transmission system, system stability, and power flow controllability using DC transmission systems are provided to offer a hierarchically controlled DC transmission ring or a partial ring using controllable AC-DC converters in a multi-in-feed/out-feed apparatus. In a power transmission system(10) to insulate a local AC transmission network from a peripheral AC system, a local AC load center(11) has a plurality of local AC loads and at least one distribution feeder. At least one remote power plant(13) supplies AC power to the local AC load center through an AC transmission line. A DC transmission ring(16) is partially interposed between the local AC load center and the remote power plant and has a plurality of DC loads. A plurality of AC/DC converters are electrically connected to the DC transmission ring outside the local AC load center. A plurality of second AC/DC converters are electrically connected to the DC transmission ring to convert DC power from the DC transmission ring into AC power. The distribution feeder is electrically connected to the DC transmission ring through the plurality of second AC/DC converters to supply the AC power to the local AC load center when all the local AC loads are insulated from the remote power plant.</p>
