A reciprocating compressor is provided to mount buffering elements made with plastic or flexible materials between a shell and a structure for reducing impact in the collision between the shell and the structure, thereby reducing not only vibration and noise but also impurities which result in the lubrication defect and abrasion of parts. A reciprocating compressor includes a shell(110), and a structure such as a frame(120) assembled with a fixing element, a moving element, a linear motor(130), a motor cover(140), a supporter, a main body cover(150), buffering springs and the like, wherein the frame is supported in the shell elastically and compressing refrigerant in response to reciprocating motion of a moving element. A buffering protrusion(126) is mounted to the shell or the structure for colliding with the structure or the shell even the structure vibrates to reduce impact force caused by the collision, wherein the protrusion is formed of a material different from that of the colliding one.
