A liquid crystal device and an electronic device are provided to display an image with high luminance and a high gray scale to enhance display quality and reliability of the electronic device. A sub-pixel area(9') includes a reflective display area(R) performs reflective displaying and a transmissive display area(T) performs transmissive displaying. The reflective display area and the transmissive display area include the first electrode(pixel electrode)(9) and the second electrode(counter electrode)(19). A liquid crystal layer is driven by an electric field generated between the first electrode and the second electrode. A space between the first electrode and the second electrode at the transmissive display area is smaller than that between the first electrode and the second electrode at the reflective display area. The space between the first electrode and the second electrode at the reflective display area is about 1.4 times the space between the first electrode and the second electrode at the transmissive display area.
