In a snap acting toggle switch in which the operating lever 14 and the moving contact assembly 16 move about a common pivot 15 and are connected by a compressionspring strut, the strut comprises at least one shank 20 with a head having a notch to engage a spindle 18 forming the moving contact member, the shank being encircled by a helical compression spring 24 one end of which bears on the head while the other bears on a, dished washer 23, curved at 25 to receive the lower end 22 of the operating lever and having in it one or more slots 26 through which the shank or shanks project so as to be alongside a side face of the lever 22. The moving contact assembly consists of two parallel arms with key-hole slots at their lower ends through which the spindle 18 with its wider portions 19 and contact-forming ends may be inserted, the latter engaging fixed contacts 27, 28 having terminal portions extending outside the casing. The casing consists of two halves 10, 11 formed with suitable recesses and held together, after all the parts have been assembled within by two rivets. Specification 600,629 is referred to. |
