An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel is provided to allocate a sufficient time for reset or address periods by reducing a time required for a sustain period. An apparatus for driving a plasma display panel includes a pulse applying unit(70) and an energy recovering unit(72). The pulse applying unit applies pulses to the plasma display panel. The energy recovering unit includes an inductor for generating LC resonance with panel capacitance components of the plasma display panel, an energy recover determining unit(722) for determining accumulation or radiation of the energy, and an energy storing unit(720) for storing the accumulated energy. The energy storing unit includes a first energy storing unit with a first voltage source(724) for supplying a first voltage and a second energy storing unit with a second voltage source(726) for supplying a second voltage lower than the first voltage.
