An actuator for an optical pickup is provided to achieve smooth rotation of a bobbin in the tangential direction and to increase operation reliability of the optical pickup by placing spring wires at two ends of the bobbin and carrying out focusing, tracking, radial rotating, and tangential rotating operations of the bobbin. An actuator for an optical pickup comprises a base, a bobbin(32), spring wires(30), and a frame board(28). The base has a yoke(22) with a magnet(24). The bobbin includes servo coils(36) corresponding to the magnet for carrying out focusing, radial rotating, and tangential rotating operations, and has an objective lens(34). The spring wires support the bobbin on the base and transmit an electric signal. The frame board has through holes, through which one end of the spring wire passes. The spring wires have first and second step spring wires. The front ends of the spring wires pass through front fixed boards(38), and are connected with the bobbin board.
