A terminal and an operation control method for the same are provided to use abbreviated numbers effectively and to set a specific function to a specific number. The user of a terminal selects a certain number and accesses an abbreviated number setup mode to establish an abbreviated number to execute a specific function(S100). If the user appoints a specific number in the abbreviated number setup mode(S110), the control part of the terminal judges whether an object, which belongs to an object group, has been appointed for the specific number(S120). If not, the control part displays a list of selectable objects(S130). If the user selects a specific object(S140), the control part appoints the selected object for the specific number(S150).
