A machine tool 1 or tool 2 has an automatic balancing device 4 made up of a first balance mass 5, which is disposed about a shaft 3 of the tool 1,2 so as to be movable in all radial directions and in peripheral direction relative to the shaft 3. The mass is set in rotation by rotation of the shaft 3, e.g. through a friction coupling, and which, upon rotation, exerts a force in a radial direction on the shaft to balance vibrations in the rotating shaft 3. More than one balancing mass 5 may be used. The balancing mass may be a disc with large inner bore, balls in a cage or a liquid in a chamber. |
