A tool-post 1 for the saddle 3 of a lathe has a tool-holder 7 secured thereto by a wedge 10 having a bifurcated end disposed between the post and holder for movement by a screw 9 in order to force the holder away from the post and bring corresponding guide-surfaces 5, 6 thereon into engagement, an adjusting-screw 21 being provided for the holder so as to contact a projection 19 which is engaged at either side by the bifurcated wedge. The post 1 may carry a holder 7, which grips a tool 25 by means of screws 26, on each of two adjacent sides thereof and be swivelled about a bolt 2 and retained in indexed position by a bolt 30, the holders being so positioned as to allow the tools to be operative simultaneously. The wedge 10 is formed with slots 13 for guide-screws 14, and a recess 11 to receive the screw 9 which is in threaded-engagement with the projection 19. |
