A mobile communication system and a method for providing contents therein are provided to offer various contents service to mobile subscribers by enabling a mobile terminal, which has roamed to a mobile network in another country, to access a contents server of the roaming mobile network. If the user of a mobile terminal, which has moved to the second area, inputs a command to access a contents server in a roaming mobile network(1), the mobile terminal requests an OTA server to transmit OTA data(2). In response to the request from the mobile terminal, the OTA server transmits information about a new APN(Access Point Name), a contents server connection address(3). The mobile terminal overwrites the received APN information on top of internally stored information about an old APN(4). Then the mobile terminal, based on the received APN information, attempts packet communication with the roaming mobile network by transmitting a PDP(Packet Data Protocol) context activation request signal to the GGSN(Gateway GPRS Support Node) of the roaming mobile network(5). If the roaming mobile network allows the mobile terminal to perform packet communication, the mobile terminal downloads contents through the contents server in the roaming mobile network(6).
