A card terminal, and a method and a program recording medium for operating the same are provided to enhance the efficiency of an IC card including a plurality of payment tools by enabling the card terminal to selects a predetermined payment tool among at least one payment tool stored in the IC card depending on a payment amount. A card reader(110) provides a payment tool information calling signal to an IC card and receives payment tool information corresponding to the calling signal from the IC card by exchanging information with the IC card in a contact/contactless mode. A payment tool selector(155) checks a payment amount inputted through a key input part(120) and selects a payment tool type preferentially assigned according to the checked payment amount when payment is processed by the IC card. A controller(105) provides a first payment tool calling signal, which preferentially selects the IC card as a first payment tool, to the IC card through the card reader, and provides a second payment tool calling signal automatically to the IC card when the first payment tool is not stored in the IC card. |
