A communication system including an Advanced Mezzanine 2axd, includes slot(s) for two single-width AMC or one double-width AMC on its backboard; the ixpanded double- width AMC is inserted in said slot, said AMC includes a first connection area and a second connection area; both of the first connection area and the second connection area have backboard interfaces, the backboard interfaces are connectedto the corresponding backboard interfaces of the AMC slot. A communications unit including an AMC, includes an AMC supporting board and a double-width AMC, said AMC includes a first connection area and a second connection area; both of the first connection area and the second connection area have the supporting board interfaces, the iupporting board interfaces of two connection areas are connected to signal of the supporting board through two AMC connection devices of the supporting board. This invention can expand the connection resources of the standard AMC, and raises the availability factor of the resources.
