An image display device, an image display method, a recording medium containing an image display program, and an electronic apparatus are provided to prevent response delay by varying time characteristics used in the brightness of beam source and image compensation quantity. An image display device includes a scene variation detecting unit(101), an image compensating unit, a beam source brightness controller, and a time characteristic controller. The scene variation detecting unit detects the variation of scene of image data. The image compensating unit compensates for the image data. The beam source brightness controller controls the brightness of a beam source. The time characteristic controller varies first and second time characteristics in the variation of the brightness of the beam source and image compensation quantity based on the variation of the scene, and executes a process based on the first and second time characteristics.
