#CMT# #/CMT# Use of 2-n-butylaminoethanol as neutralization and/or co-dispersion agent in paint and/or as an agent developing the dyeing force of pigments in a white paint base, is claimed. #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are included for: (1) aqueous or solvented paint comprising 2-n-butylaminoethanol as neutralizing agent and/or co-dispersing agent in paint and/or as an agent developing the dyeing force of pigments in a white paint base in which the pigment concentrate is diluted for tinting; (2) pigment concentrate as a dispersing agent for an aqueous or a solvented white paint base, containing a primary dispersing agent, neutralizing agent, pigments, water and additives and other adjuvants, comprising 2-n-butylaminoethanol as neutralization agent optionally in mixture with ammonia, sodium hydroxide, dimethylamine, monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, N-methylethanolamine and 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol; and (3) tinted paint obtained by diluting the pigment concentrate, comprising (parts by weight/100 parts) 2-n-butylaminoethanol (1-4), a colored pigment or dye (20 to 50), water (40-70), a drying retardant (1-10), like polyethylene glycol 200, additives and other adjuvants (0.1-0.8) like anti-foam agents and biocides; an aqueous white paint mate (parts by weight per 1000 parts) added water (80-150), binder (100-200) like acrylic emulsion or acrylic resin, dispersing agent (1-2), a neutralization agent (1-3), titania white pigment (80-150), other white pigment (400-550), thickener (150-250) such as a cellulose ether and additives and other adjuvants (2-5) like anti-foaming agents and biocides; aqueous white satin paint (comprising parts by weight per 1000 parts) added water (70-150), binder like acrylic emulsion or acrylic resin (400-550), dispersing agent (1-3), neutralization agent (1-2), titania white pigment (80-250); other white pigment (40-70), thickener (60-150) and additives and other adjuvants (4-8); an aqueous white paint for facade (parts by weight per 1000 parts) added water (80-150), binder like acrylic resin (200-250), a dispersing agent (1-3), a neutralization agent (1-3), titania white pigment (160-250), other white pigment (300-400), a thickener (120-200) like cellulose ether and additives and other adjuvants (2-5); or solvented white paint (parts by weight per 1000 parts) an alkyd resin (500-650), white pigment (230-350), a wetting agent (4-8), a drying agent (15-25), additives and other adjuvants (6-10) like antisedimentation agents and antiskin agent, a hydrocarbon solvent (80-120), where the pigment concentrate is present at 0.1-8 wt.% of the resulting paint. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# The 2-n-butylaminoethanol is useful as neutralization and/or co-dispersion agent in paint and/or as an agent developing the dyeing force of pigments in a white paint base (claimed). #CMT#POLYMERS : #/CMT# Preferred Composition: The paint is aqueous paint such as acrylic based latex paint, or a solvented paint such as alkyd or glycerophthalic paint. The amount of the primary dispersing agent used in the paint formulation is controlled according to the role of co-dispersing agent 2-n-butylaminoethanol. The painting is a tinted painting, or pigments being introduced in the formulation by dilution of a pigment concentrate in a base of white paint, where the pigment concentrate contains a primary dispersing agent, 2-n-butylaminoethanol, or pigments, water and additives/adjuvants. The quantity of pigment concentrate is controlled against power of high development of the coloring strength of 2-n-butylaminoethanol. The paint comprises 2-n-butylaminoethanol at 0.05-2 wt.%, preferably 0.1-0.2 wt.% as the only neutralizing agent. The paint optionally further comprises another neutralization agent comprising ammonia, sodium hydroxide, dimethylamine, monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, N-methylethanolamine and 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol, 2-n-butylaminoethanol, at >= 1 wt.%, preferably >= 50 wt.% of the neutralization agent mixture. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# The pigment concentrate comprised (in parts by weight/100 parts) water (47), 2-n-butylaminoethanol (3), Dispersebyk 191 (RTM: Polyacrylate copolymer with pigment groups) (2), Blue BT 627 D (RTM: Reddish alpha-phthalocyanine blue pigment) (40), EFKA 2526 (RTM: Organic polymer defoamer) (0.5) and Acticide MBS (RTM: 2-Methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one) (0.1), polyethylene glycol (4) as drying retardant. |
