An electrode assembly is provided to impart a decreased thickness to a round portion when coating an active material of a prismatic secondary battery, thereby improving the energy density and capacity per unit volume. An electrode assembly(220) is obtained by winding: a cathode plate(230) including a cathode collector(232), a cathode active material portion(233) coated on at least one surface of the cathode collector, and a cathode non-coated portion(236) where the cathode collector is exposed to the exterior; an anode plate(240) including an anode collector(242), an anode active material portion(243) coated on at least one surface of the anode collector, and an anode non-coated portion(246) where the anode collector is exposed to the exterior; and a separator interposed between the cathode plate and the anode plate. The electrode assembly includes a round portion, which comprises a portion(235) of low-thickness coating portion of the cathode active material portion or the anode active material portion, or formed by the cathode non-coated portion or the anode non-coated portion. |
