A power supply comprises an AC/DC converting section for converting AC voltage into DC voltage, a switching circuit having switching elements and outputting a pulse voltage according to the combination of ons and offs of the switching elements due to an on/off cycle of each switching element caused when the DC voltage is inputted and a control section for performing phase-shift PWM control to control the pulse width of the pulse voltage outputted from the switching circuit by varying the phase of the on/off cycle of each switching element.
