A method for preparing a platinum catalyst is provided to improve purity of platinum catalyst so as to be used in medicine or useful for crosslinkage of casting contacting with food, enhance preparation yield, economical efficiency and safety by using no toxic compounds in preparation, and reduce the preparation time. A method for preparing a platinum 1,3-diketo compound comprises the steps of: stirring dichloroplatinum compound having aliphatic or cyclic diolefin radical such as norbornadiene or cyclooctadiene and diketo compound selected from 2,4-(3-methyl)pentandionate, 2,4-(3-phenyl)pentandionate, 3,5-heptandionate, potassium acetylacetonate and sodium acetylacetonate in keto solvent selected from acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl propyl ketone, methyl butyl ketone, cyclohexanone, diethyl ketone, dibutyl ketone, acetone and acetophenone at 10 deg. C or less for 5-90 minutes; and isolating the reaction product.
