METHOD FOR DETECTING THE ABNORMAL USE OF A SAFETY PROCESSOR

The invention relates to a method for detecting the abnormal use of a safety processor called by at least one reception terminal for controlling the access to a scrambled digital content provided by at least one operator to said reception terminal. The method comprises the following steps: analysing the use of the safety processor for a predetermined monitoring period T<SUB>Obs</SUB>; determining from said analysis the average value M<SUB>ECM</SUB> of the number of calls by time unit of said safety processor during said monitoring period T<SUB>Obs</SUB>; comparing said average value M<SUB>ECM</SUB> with a predetermined threshold S<SUB>max</SUB>; and if the value M<SUB>ECM</SUB> is higher than the threshold S<SUB>max</SUB>, applying to said terminal a sanction having a severity level that gradually increases.
