摘要 An image display device, an image display method, a recording medium recording an image display program, and an electronic device are provided to perform saturation compensation suitable for lighting to light an image while suppressing a change of saturation on the image properly, thereby performing the lighting of a backlight for saving power properly while suppressing the deterioration of saturation on the image effectively. An image processing engine comprises a frame image acquisition unit(40), a color converting unit(41), a frame memory(42), a level compensating unit, a brightness compensating unit, an image display signal generator, a brightness compensation coefficient holding unit, a light source controller, an image quality holding rate setter, a saturation compensating unit, and a saturation compensating coefficient holding unit. The frame image acquisition unit acquires the image data of a frame image, the image of each frame, successively from video data inputted to an image display device via an input I/F(Interface). The color converting unit converts the image data acquired by the frame image acquisition unit into brightness data and color difference data. The frame memory stores the image data processed in the color converting unit. The level compensating unit receives a brightness value X from the color converting unit, and performs level compensation for extending a range in which the brightness value X is distributed to acquire a brightness value Y. The brightness compensating unit performs compensation for reducing a change of brightness generated in a displayed image by compensating the variation of brightness values and lighting the displayed image. The image quality holding rate setter sets a value corresponding to a gray deterioration limit value previously before image display by register entry of a CPU(Central Processing Unit). The saturation compensating unit reduces a change of saturation generated in the displayed image by compensating the inclination of a saturation value and lighting the displayed image. The light source controls the intensity of a light source generated by a backlight by controlling power which a power supply device supplies to the backlight according to a lighting rate alpha. The image display signal generator converts the compensated brightness value Y' and the compensated color difference data Cb'Cr' into RGB(Red, Green, Blue) data.
