<p>The invention relates to a machine tool (M) whose machining station (100) comprises a subassembly (300) supporting at least one workpiece to be machined and which is noteworthy in that: the connection between the gantry (220) supporting the headstock (210) and the crossrails (231 and 232) carried by the console (230) is situated at the bottom part of said gantry (220), the top part being free of any guide or drive element; the crossrails (231 and 232) for guiding the translational movement of the gantry are inscribed within different vertical and horizontal planes; and the translational drive motion is produced using a single linear motor (233) inserted between said crossrails (231 and 232).
