#CMT# #/CMT# The device has a polyphase alternating current-direct current converter (MCU') e.g. reversible penta-phase inverter, and a three-phase inverter (INV) e.g. filtering and power inverter module, where the number of phases is equal to or higher than five. A polyphase starter-generator (SG') has a penta-phase stator, and generates a frequency ranging between 800 hertz and 2 kilo hertz, and a polyphase rectifier (RU) has ten diodes. A polyphase transformer-rectifier (TRU') has penta-phase primary and secondary windings, and an outlet filter. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Device for generating electricity for an airplane i.e. aircraft (claimed) such as commercial aircraft, and for electrical starting of a jet engine on the airplane. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The number of phases is equal to or higher than five, thus increasing an average torque, and reducing torque ripple in the device. The alternating current-direct current converter avoids the distribution of alternating current in order to eliminate the need for a neutral cable, thus avoiding the existence of common mode current, and reducing the mass of the device, and hence reducing heat constraints in the starter-generator and the converter, and ensuring improved voltage quality. The configuration of the device allows the usage of a simple rectifier without magnetic circuit and interphase inductor, thus increasing the reliability and yield of the device, and simplifying the topology and fabrication of the device, while permitting to reduce the size of the filter. The utilization of the transformer-rectifier increases the quality of a rectified voltage.
