The system has a determining block (33) determining a nominal torque transmitted based on a clutch position. A determining module (20) determines a torque transmitted based on the nominal torque and a measured temperature of a friction clutch and has a correction block (35) estimating a slew rate (tau-derive) of the torque transmitted by the clutch with respect to the nominal torque. Another correction block (34) estimates shifting of a biting point of the clutch. The correction blocks estimate the torque transmitted by correction of the nominal torque based on the rate and estimated shifting. An independent claim is also included for a method for estimating a torque.
