A digital contents receiving device and a method for switching an input source thereof are provided to turn off a hot plug previously for the control of the hot plug necessary to perform HDCP(High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) authentication and turn on the hot plug later, thereby shortening a time for enter other input sources and providing a fast response speed to input source switching. A method for switching the input source of a digital contents receiving device comprises the following steps of: connecting with one of input sources(S300); turning off the hot plug of an input source, of which the authentication is needed, out of other input sources except the connected input source(S310); switching the connected input source into an input source corresponding to an inputted input source switching signal if the input source switching signal is inputted(S320,S340); turning on the hot plug of the switching input source(S350); and performing authentication for the input source(S360).
