<p>A graphical user interface system for facilitating the retrieval of informa- tion relating to at least one predetermined category of information. The system comprises a computer, a user controlled pointing device and a display screen, said display screen (1) comprising a number of pixels for generating an image comprising x times y pixels based on information from said computer. The image comprises a background (3) with a su- perposed grid (2) defining a number of sectors (4), each sector (4) comprising a number n of pixels. Furthermore, the system comprises indicat- ing means for indicating in a sector (4) defined by said grid (2) and dis- played on said display screen (1), the existence of a piece of information for that sector (4), where said piece of information relates to the back- ground (3) corresponding to that sector (4). Furthermore, said indicating means indicates that said piece of information relates to said at least one category of information. The system also comprises a graphical repre- sentation of a pointer (5) movable in response to said user controlled pointing device, so as to allow user selection of a specific sector (4), and means for displaying said piece of information in response to user selection of that specific sector (4).</p> |
