Charging/discharging cycles are controlled using a logic controller embarked on the vehicle when a heat engine is started, where the controller is utilized for controlling the heat engine. The vehicle is started using energy stored in the supercapacitor. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Method for initializing an energy storage element e.g. battery, supplying power to electrical machine that is utilized for supplying torque to a heat engine for driving a vehicle e.g. hybrid vehicle, during starting and restarting phase. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The method optimizes life duration of the energy storage element by respecting charging/discharging cycles related to intrinsic characteristics of the supercapacitor.
