An image processing method performs a color conversion process on input image data by considering chromatic adaptation. A color conversion process is performed by considering an adaptation factor indicating the degree of adaptation to the scene illumination condition upon input image acquisition or a view environment upon input image observation, thereby changing the adaptation factor depending on the color of the pixel to be converted.
