THERAPEUTIC AGENTS FOR IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME

A therapeutic agent for irritable bowel syndrome which contains as an active ingredient a compound having adenosine uptake inhibitory activity; and a therapeutic agent for irritable bowel syndrome which contains as an active ingredient either a tricyclic compound represented by the formula (I) [wherein L represents -NHC(=O)-, etc.; R¹ represents hydrogen, halogeno, etc.; X¹-X²-X³ represents S-CR⁷=CR⁸ (wherein R⁷ and R⁸ are the same or different and each represents hydrogen, halogeno, (un)substituted lower alkyl, etc.), etc.; Y represents -CH₂SO₂-, -SO₂CH₂-, etc.; and R² represents (un)substituted lower alkyl, (un)substituted lower alkoxy, (un)substituted aryl, etc.] or a pharmacologically acceptable salt of the compound.
