A monitoring device using a solar battery is provided to compare a stored image and a newly-photographed image and determine that an invader is generated if change is generated between pixel data of the two images, thereby notifying an administrator of the generation of the invader. A monitoring device(1) using a solar battery comprises a photographing unit(10), a storage unit(30), a comparing/controlling unit(20), a main control unit(50), a transmitting unit(40), and a power supply unit(70). The comparing/controlling unit has a pixel data calculating unit(21). The pixel data calculating unit calculates pixel data of first and second images. The first image is stored by the storage unit. The second image is photographed by the photographing unit as leaving a time interval with respect to the same area as an area of the first image. The pixel data calculating unit compares the pixel data of the first and second images. If a difference is generated between the pixel data of the first and second images, the comparing/controlling unit stores the second image in the storage unit. If the difference is generated between the pixel data of the first and second images, the main control unit controls a driving unit(11a) of the photographing unit based on driving data so as to photograph a centralized monitoring area. If the difference is generated between the pixel data of the first and second images, the transmitting unit transmits the second image stored in the storage unit, a photographed image of the centralized monitoring area, and information about invader generation to an administrator.
