摘要 A projector, an optical compensation method thereof, and an LCD device are provided to compensate a phase difference which can not be compensated by one of first and second phase difference plates easily, thereby acquiring the display of high quality with high contrast and less brightness deviation. A projector has a light source(12) and a liquid crystal light valve(15-17). The liquid crystal light valve comprises a liquid crystal panel(15c), a pair of polarizing plates(15b,15d), a first phase difference plate(15a), and a second phase difference plate(15e). The liquid crystal light valve modulates light radiated from the light source. The liquid crystal panel is constituted by holding a liquid crystal layer between the pair of substrates. The pair of polarizing plates are arranged to fit the liquid crystal panel therebetween. The first phase difference plate is arranged between the pair of polarizing plates to compensate the phase difference of the liquid crystal panel. The second phase difference plate is arranged between the pair of polarizing plates to compensate the phase difference of the pair of polarizing plates.
