The invention relates to novel monoazo compounds of formula (1), wherein R represents H or Cl, M²⁺ represents Ca²⁺ or SR²⁺ and Y₁=H and Y₂=SO₃^- or Y₁=SO₃^- and Y₂=H. The compounds of formula (1) are characterized by their high drying power and high light-fastness.
