SUSPENSION OF ASCORBIC ACID IN GLYCERIN AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

Disclosed is a suspension of ascorbic acid in glycerin, wherein the content of ascorbic acid is 13 mass% or more, a part of ascorbic acid is dissolved in glycerin or glycerin containing diglycerin at a concentration of 8 to 12 mass%, and the remainder of ascorbic acid is precipitated in the form of a microcrystal having a particle diameter of 25 µm or less and dispersed homogeneously in the suspension. The suspension of ascorbic acid in glycerin is useful as a ascorbic-acid-containing cosmetic base material which is excellent in feeling during application (including a good spreadability and smooth touch during application onto the skin).
