[Also in Group XVII] The neck of a plastic bottle &c. is sealed by introducing into it a heating device 3 which does not come into contact with the neck, withdrawing the device when the internal surface of the neck is at melting point and sealing by jaws 4. The device 3 may comprise a pipe 5 and apertured cylinder 6 through which hot gas is blown on to the neck surface. The gas may be inert to exclude air from the container. The jaws may emboss an identification mark on the container during sealing. |
