PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a large bending force from acting on an operating axis, in a switching mechanism mounted with an auxiliary contact to an operating shaft of a linear movement. SOLUTION: The switching mechanism is provided with a movable contact 30 for switching a main contact by the linear reciprocating movement, an operating shafts 1, 3 connected to the movable contact 30 for reciprocating it, an operating mechanism 10 reciprocating the operating shafts 1, 3 in the axial direction, an auxiliary contact driving pin 4 fixed to the operating shafts 1, 3 and extending in the vertical direction to them for switching the auxiliary contact 33, and a counterweight 11 fixed to the operating axes 1, 3 and disposed in the direction opposite to the extension of the auxiliary contact driving pin 4 with respect to the operating shaft 1, 3. An axial moment due to the counterweight 11 is adjusted to bring a balance to the moment around the axis due to the load of the auxiliary contact driving pin 4 and due to the load acted on the auxiliary contact driving pin 4.
