PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of improving display characteristics and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: In a display area constituted by pixels arranged in a matrix shape, there are provided first display elements arranged corresponding to each of the first pixels and emitting light in a first color, second display elements arranged corresponding to each of the second pixels and emitting light in a second color different from the first color, barrier ribs 70 separating each of the first pixels and each of the second pixels, and protection layers 80 formed of an insulating material arranged on upper surfaces 70A of the barrier ribs 70.
